Men don’t like talking about cancer, or the men I know don’t. It’s still out there though whether we talk about it or not, and it respects no-one. A big 10k run to raise awareness of men’s cancers and to raise funds to do something about them is a great idea. Having lost a father to cancer at the age of 48, I know the heartache that it brings, I would have given anything to have a few more years with him and that’s why I am supporting Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity’s 10k ‘Run in the Park’ on 12 July.
Like all serious sports people the Lions don’t take fitness and strength for granted. Living a healthy life style can help to prevent cancer developing – but it is no guarantee. That’s one reason why I am supporting Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and their ‘Run in the Park’ 10k. This is a run to raise awareness of and to fight men’s cancers so let’s get talking and get running and support Weston Park Hospital. Come on lads, run for your friends, your family and yourselves. Ladies, run for your husband, father, brother. With the 3k Fun Run as well as the 10k Race, this is something everyone can take part in and know that they are making a difference.

Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity is my charity and I am running in their first ever 10k race in memory of my Dad, who was always there for me even during his cancer treatment. The Hospital and the Cancer Research Centre at Weston Park are recognised internationally for their work in the fight against cancer. By sponsoring me you will be joining in that fight and helping to make a real difference for people living with cancer.

We are lucky to have Weston Park Hospital here in Sheffield. I had not realised that the hospital is 1 of only 3 specialist cancer Hospitals in the country or that we have a dedicated Cancer Research Centre delivering world class results right here on our doorstep. I am extremely proud to support Weston Park Hospital and the work of the Cancer Charity, that is why I am running in the first ever ‘Run in the Park’ 10k at Graves Park on Sunday, 12 July. Please join me and many others to raise as much money as possible.

Having grown up in Sheffield I know what a great asset Weston Park Hospital is to the community as one of the UK’s leading centres of excellence for cancer care. The Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity is a vital part of its support and that is why I’m backing ‘Run in the Park’. Visit the charity’s web site on
www.wphcancercharity.org.uk, sign up and start running! As well as having lots of fun you will be helping to make a real difference to the lives of people across South Yorkshire and the North Midlands.

I'm supporting the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity ‘Run in the Park’ 10k to help raise awareness of men’s cancers. Come on lads and dads, we all know someone affected by cancer and we can do something to help find a cure. Let's celebrate good health and at the same time help fight cancer by running for someone we know.’
